Her first documentary 475: BREAK THE SILENCE (2014) was entirely crowd-funded and became an internet sensation. More importantly, her debut film was the component of a civil society movement that pressured the government to repeal the law that allowed rapists to marry their victims and avoid prosecution. A TEDx speaker, Bensari graduated in Economics and Middle-Eastern studies from Edinburgh University and in Development Studies from the London School of Economics.
